Shakira Direen

Shakira is a dedicated physiotherapist with a passion for helping individuals achieve their health and wellness goals. Graduating with distinction from Griffith University, Shakira enjoys treating a variety of conditions and has a particular interest in sporting injuries, headaches/migraines, neck pain, post-surgical rehabilitation, stroke and neurological rehabilitation.
With a holistic, hands-on approach, Shakira combines techniques such as soft tissue massage, dry needling, cupping, and joint mobilisations with personalised exercise programs designed to support recovery and enhance overall wellbeing. In addition to one-on-one physiotherapy, she also offers clinical Pilates classes.
Drawing from her experience as a sports trainer for AFL and her background in competitive dance, touch football, netball, and horse riding, Shakira brings a unique perspective to her practice, understanding the specific demands and challenges athletes face.
With experience in both hospital and private practice settings, Shakira has developed a unique skill set for managing conditions across acute and long-term care. During her time in a large tertiary hospital, she cared for patients with neurological conditions (such as stroke and brain injury) and respiratory/lung conditions, as well as providing post-surgical rehabilitation for procedures such as joint replacements, joint reconstructions, spinal surgery, ACL and rotator cuff repairs and meniscus surgery.
Outside of her professional endeavours, Shakira embraces an active lifestyle, whether she’s learning to surf, practicing Pilates, hitting the gym, or enjoying leisurely walks with her furry companion. With a commitment to ongoing learning and a passion for helping others, Shakira is dedicated to helping people optimise their wellbeing and enhance their quality of life.
